Federal Law Academy
Introduction
Aiming to establish a free, fair, peaceful, and developed Federal Democratic Union, the Federal Law Academy was founded in Mai Ja Yang, Kachin State, in 2014. With academic support of some international legal academicians, the Federal Law Academy has come into existence.The Academy is the only institution in the entire country that offers a variety of subjects covering ‘Federalism towards Human Rights’ by especially accentuating the right to self-determination of the ethnic nationalities and their states/provinces with the underpinning of the Rule of Law.
Vision/Mission
Aiming to establish a free, fair, peaceful, and developed Federal Democratic Union of Burma (Myanmar).
To nurture and advance the ethnic youths so that they become legal practitioners who will implement the following objectives:
(1) Laying down the Rule of Law foundation for the emergence of an independent, just, developed, and peaceful Federal Union with the underpinning of human rights;
(2) Participating in the process of drafting, making, and enforcing the Federal Constitution, Constitutions of the Ethnic States – which constitute the Federal Union – and respective organic laws and other laws, which will reflect the will of the various ethnic nationalities and their Ethnic States; and,
(3) Facilitating the transformation of the national legal framework on the basis of international law, human rights laws, humanitarian law, and equal rights and self-determination of all ethnic nationalities in order that benefits of the constituent units of the Federal Union as well as of people who have been residing in each respective unit are protected.

Admission Criteria
Must be between (18) and (35) years of age.
Students who have completed high school education –
University students who have joined the Civil Disobedience Movement.
Those who have completed at least the second year of the provisional university education program,
Those who have obtained diplomas from colleges in areas controlled by ethnic resistance organizations (EROs),
Those who have obtained diplomas from community colleges,
Those who have participated in the ethnic resistance organisations (EROs) and the anti-military dictatorship (Spring Revolution) movement for more than (2) years can apply.

- Individuals aged 18 to 35.
- Undergraduate students in CDM
- Completed the second year of university through interim university programmes.
- Diploma recipients from institutions located within the ERO’s jurisdiction and from community colleges
- Individuals who completed basic high school education and either served in the EROs or engaged in the Spring Revolution against the military regime for over two years.

- Prospective students are encouraged to seek information regarding scholarships from the World Kachin Congress (WKC).
- The Diploma in Law programme at FLA is an in-person course.
